Why I’m Starting the Feel Great System—and Why I’m Sharing the Journey

This is not a transformation story.

I do not have dramatic before-and-after photographs. I cannot tell you how much weight I have lost, because I have not started yet. I do not even own a scale at the moment—I plan to buy one this weekend.

This is the part that normally gets left out: the point before the results, when you realize something needs to change but still have to decide whether you are actually going to do it.

That is where I am today.

How My Lifestyle Changed

I gained weight after moving to the Dominican Republic. The move itself was not the problem, and neither were getting married or becoming a father. But my lifestyle changed significantly.

Before meeting my wife and having my daughter, I had much more time to exercise, go to the gym and enjoy outdoor activities. Later, I spent a lot of time traveling between Colorado and the Dominican Republic before eventually moving here permanently.

Today, much of my day is spent sitting in front of a computer while also helping care for my 19-month-old daughter. Exercise became inconsistent. My eating habits deteriorated. I was eating too late, sometimes shortly before going to bed. I regularly felt tired and dealt with strong sugar cravings.

I also began drinking more alcohol than I should.

Some of that came from boredom. Some of it came from how easily drinking becomes part of social life here. You may decide that you will not drink during the week, but then a neighbor invites you over for a few beers. A family gathering happens, the beer starts flowing and another week goes by without following through on what you promised yourself.

I am not blaming the culture, my neighbors or my family. The decisions were still mine. But anyone who has tried to change a habit knows that your environment can make consistency more difficult.

Knowing What to Do Wasn’t Enough

I have tried keto, traditional dieting and exercise. They all worked when I followed them consistently.

The problem was not a lack of information. I knew the basics. Eat better. Drink less. Exercise more. Stop eating so late. Get away from the computer.

But knowing what to do and consistently doing it are two different things.

I kept believing I could correct everything on my own. I would restart, do well temporarily and then fall back into the same routine. Eventually, I had to acknowledge that my approach was not working within the life I have now.

I cannot build my health around the schedule I had when I was single and had fewer responsibilities. I need something I can realistically follow while working from home, raising a young child and building a life in a different country.

Why This Became More Urgent

There is another reason I cannot continue treating this casually.

My father died from a heart attack at 58. His father also died at 58. My half-brother on my father’s side died from a heart attack at 55.

I am fortunate that I do not smoke, but I know that does not give me permission to ignore my weight, alcohol use and daily habits.

This family history does not mean a particular product can prevent what happened to them. I would never make that claim. It does mean that I have strong personal reasons to take my health more seriously while I still have the opportunity to change direction.

I want to lose weight and feel better. I want to have more energy for my daughter. I want to go to the beach with my family without feeling ashamed when I take off my shirt. Those may sound like simple goals, but they matter to me.

Why I Finally Said Yes

Earlier this year, a former colleague and friend introduced me to the Feel Great System. My initial reaction was skepticism.

I believed I should be able to do this by myself. I also had questions about the cost, the products and the business opportunity. I did not make the decision impulsively.

Eventually, two things became clear.

First, what I had been doing was not producing lasting change. I needed a practical routine, greater accountability and a reason to take the process seriously.

Second, I needed to approach income differently.

Finding remote work while living outside the United States has been far more difficult than I expected. My professional background is in telecommunications, but I no longer want my future to depend entirely on finding another traditional telecom position. I have explored several different ways to create independent income, and none has yet developed into the stable opportunity I need.

The flexibility of building something that can operate from wherever I live appealed to me. If I could improve my own habits, honestly document the experience, help other people who relate to my situation and potentially earn income along the way, it seemed worth exploring.

That does not mean success is guaranteed—either with my health or as a business. It means I decided it was time to stop waiting for the perfect solution and begin testing a different approach.

What I’m Going to Track

I plan to document this journey openly.

Once I buy a scale, I will record my starting weight. I will also take baseline photographs and track changes in areas such as:

* Weight

* Waist measurement

* Energy

* Appetite and sugar cravings

* Sleep

* Alcohol consumption

* Daily consistency

* How I feel physically and mentally

I will not be publishing blood sugar, A1C or other medical measurements because I am not beginning this with clinical testing. I also will not pretend that personal observations are medical evidence.

What I can provide is an honest account of what I do, how consistently I do it and what changes—or does not change—over time.

What I’m Not Promising

I am not a doctor, dietitian or medical researcher. I am also not presenting myself as someone who has already achieved results.

I recently became an independent Unicity distributor, so if someone purchases through my referral link, I may earn compensation. Readers deserve to know that upfront.

That relationship will not change how I report my experience. If something is difficult, I will say so. If I do not like something, I will say so. If I fail to follow the routine consistently, I will not blame the products. And if the results do not match my expectations, that belongs in the story too.

The goal is not to manufacture a testimonial. The goal is to create accountability and find out whether this routine can help me build healthier, more sustainable habits.

Starting Where I Am

I wish I had made these changes earlier. But there is no value in spending another year feeling ashamed about where I am while doing nothing to change it.

I do not know exactly where this journey will lead. I am not going to pretend I already have the results.

I am starting where I am, documenting the process honestly and giving myself a real opportunity to change direction.

If any part of my situation sounds familiar—weight gain, low energy, inconsistent habits, drinking more than you intended or knowing what to do but struggling to follow through—you are invited to follow along.
